Handle Holiday Traveling in Style

Since I travel every Christmas to my mom's house in Texas, I have basically mastered packing and what to bring on the plane for the holidays. Even though I feel like I have my airport traveling down to a science my mom taught me how to appropriately dress for it. My mom always use to tell my sister and I when we were growing up is, "Don't ever look like a slob going to the airport and do not ever wear sweatpants". I never understood why she told us this because I just wanted to be comfortable. So the question is, how can you travel comfortably and still look put together especially when traveling from one climate to another?

1. Make sure you wear layers! I cannot tell you how many times that I wish I could shed a layer or add layers. The best way to do this is wear a basic tee, a light jacket over it, jeans, and add a scarf. So if you get too hot you can just start taking layers off, which I always end up doing second I land in Texas coming from chilly Utah.

2. Do not wear open toed shoes- Planes can get very cold and although flip flops are convenient they will not keep you warm. If you want to wear something easy and comfy wear a boot that you can easily get on and off for security checks. Emu Australia makes a great comfortable boot, the Ashby, that still looks cute! If you want something with a heel I obviously am going to recommend the Rag & Bone Newbury boot. I'm not only obsessed with them, but they are also comfy and chic.

3. Add a hat- Planes always give me horrible hair because I am always playing with it or moving it around on the plane, so I always bring a hat. Hats always are a great last touch to an outfit and make you look chic and put together.

Usable Stocking Stuffers

Every year around Christmas time I go and visit my family in Texas, which means my suitcases is full of gifts and of course my whole entire  closet (who knows what the weather will be like!). I normally end up having to pay a larger fee for how heavy my suitcase is, so I buy all my stocking stuffers when I get there. I always end up in a rush trying to finish my shopping and just end up going to the CVS around the corner. I look in my basket each year and look at all the junky stuff they will ever use again, but at least its something right? Wrong! This year I am prepared with amazing stocking stuffers and I'm bringing a larger carry on to bring it all in. :) Here are a few items that my family will be pulling out of their stockings this holiday season:

Free People-Mexicana Slipper Sock
These socks make the perfect gift! They are incredibly comfortable and soft with double layers, micro fleece lining, and polka dot bottom grips. They come in 3 different colors ( green, black, and ivory), so you can get them for multiple people in your family.

These cute Animal Zip Pouches from Marc by Marc Jacobs are perfect for that animal loving fashion forward person in your family. Looks great and fun on the side of your purse or on your keys!

We obviously can't forget stocking stuffers for the men in our lives either! I always get the women in my family socks and the men always have this jealous look on their face when we are all putting on our cozy fuzzy socks  So this year I'm coming with a few pairs of socks.

Pantherella- Ellery Alpine Fair Isle Socks  - Great cozy socks for them to wear all winter long!

Mossimo Supply Co. Men's Crew Holiday Socks are perfect for getting them in the holiday spirit!

Herschel Supply Co. makes great wallets and card holders that make perfect stocking stuffers!

Those are just a few of my great stocking stuffer ideas that my family and friends will use more than once! Add some of these great gifts and you are golden, plus add tons of candy as well. That will always get eaten :)  Happy Holidays!

How to Wear a Leather Skirt

Leather has been everywhere this year and I am loving it! A new addition to the leather trend are leather skirts in all lengths and colors! The big questions is, how are you supposed to wear a leather skirt? This trend is actually incredibly versatile and looks great on everyone! Here are a few tips on how to rock your leather skirt this season:

1. Pair your leather skirt with a sweater! The sweater can be fitted or lose depending on what type of leather skirt you have bought. Skirts with more pleats look great with fitted sweaters! You can even pair a white blouse underneath for a casual yet dressy look. Skirts that have a closer fit can be paired with a bulkier sweater.
2. For a simple look, tuck a blouse into your skirt and pair with booties or pumps. Your outfit will look clean and effortlessly chic.
3. One of my favorite ways to wear this trend is just pairing it with a basic t-shirt or a graphic tee. This look is casual but funky and fun!

A Casual Holiday

First off, I do not like buying dresses that I can only wear once which is why I don't like buying sequin holiday dresses. I mean how often can you wear a sequin dress? You can wear it twice in the month of December and then shove it in the back of your closet, which we all know you won't wear again. So this year I have decided to go for simple dress that I can dress up or down, and shockingly I can wear more than once! Here are a few of my favorites:

1.
This Velvet lace dress is perfect for the holidays! I can wear it throughout the season with tights and boot, and be able to wear it to my holiday parties without looking too casual.
2. I absolutely love Cynthia Vincent and this Epaulette shifts dress makes me love her more. This dress looks great with pumps but also looks great with a big chunky sweater and boots for a casual look! This dress is so versatile and can be worn throughout the season.

3.  This James Perse dress may seem too casual for the holidays, but paired with a long sparkly necklace and some heels it would be perfect! Then this dress would be perfect with tights, booties, and of course my favorite thing...a chunky sweater!

I may be going too casual for the holidays, but hey I'm going to be comfortable (not having to wear that itchy sequins) and I don't have to feel guilty about the cost because I'll wear them a ton! I guess I'll just have to get all three because obviously they are practical ;).

Cozy sweaters

Today it was the big first snowfall in Park City which means I can finally pull out all of my sweaters, scarves, hats, and gloves! Unfortunately, I'm always disapointed when I realize I don't have as many sweaters as I remember so, yet again, I am on the search for more this year. I have the hardest time finding the sweaters I like because they have to be big, chunky, warm, and of course cute. Here are a few that are making my Christmas list this year:

Sweater1. Zara ribbed sweater- Pair with a cute leather skirt, a short boot,  beanie, and some gold jewelry! You will be incredibly cozy, but still looking chic!

Vince sweater2. Vince ribbed shawl collar sweater- I've been completely obsessed with this sweater since I first saw it. Pair with a basic white tee, skinny jeans, and boots!

Those are my absolute favorites right now! I know I will find more soon and I will post what I find this week!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley...Need I say more?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is not only head over heels gorgeous, but her sense of style is flawless. She puts together chic outfits without over doing it and makes everyone want to emulate her style ( I know I have!). So the question on my mind was, how can I look like her without getting plastic surgery? I decided to just master her style instead of going under the knife! Here are a few key pieces that seem to be a must have in her wardrobe...

1. Get a great fedora or wide brimmed hat. ( I suggest the Rag & Bone Dunaway hat)
2. Invest in great basics ( tees and blouses in neutral colors)
3. Get a pair of great booties ( I suggest the Rag & Bone Classic Newbury, but if you find yourself in a money bind LuLus.com has some great booties for good prices)
4. Scarves! ( I always see her pairing her basics with a nice scarf over it so it adds a bit of pop to her basic top.).
5. Get a pair of shades ( Elizabeth and James has some great Rosie like sunglasses).

This is a great start to adding great pieces that will last you more than one season and becoming effortlessly chic like Rosie!

Obsessed with leatherettes!

Lately I have been completely obsessed with touches of leather and wanted a great pair of leather pants, but unfortunately that would break my bank.  I kept searching for something a little less expensive and I found a great alternative at Cake Boutique with these Citizen of Humanity leatherettes! They are the most amazing pants I have ever put on, and not to mention they look great with basically everything. I pair this with a basic white tee, my Vince circle cardigan found here , and a great pair of black booties. I can wear my comfy sweaters but look instantly chic with my leatherettes.
